< Attraversamenti Multipli > has been planned and coordinated
by Alessandra Ferraro and Pako Graziani of the theatre group Margine
Operativo, promoted by the Municipality of Roma - Cultural Department
– Youth Policy Office, Province of Roma – Vice- presidency,
Assessorato alle Politiche Giovanili e della formazione professionale
and by the Municipality Roma X
in partnership with: Zone Attive, Metro S.p.A, Grandi Stazioni, Cotral

Every
day, thousands of people move from one side of the city to another.
In this continuous movement of people there are constant focal points,
places that must be crossed if one wishes to get somewhere. Transit
points, non places, passageways where everything is fleeting, fast,
undetermined and indefinite … underground stations … train
stations … places that symbolize our time, where everything is
accelerated, steps, breathing, glances that fleetingly meet for a few
seconds, stories, cultures, languages, places-nonon places blends or
hybrids… where everything is ectremely vital because in these places
life flows…
In the passageways of the Rome Underground, in the symbolic crossroads
of the city, the multiform body “Attraversamenti Multipli”
takes place, made up of theatrical and dance performances, videos, installations
and music.
“Attraversamenti Multipli” is a mobile and complex ‘event_organism’
– which interacts with the places it visits in its travels, creates
theatrical movement and unique video installations, collects visual,
body and sound materials and assembles them in a new body.
"Attraversamenti Multipli" begins its fourth tour on 9 September,
having already been in the city of Rome in 2001, 2002 and 2003.
(the first edition of Attraversamenti Multipli was in June 2001 with
a tour organised in collaboration with Zone Attive, the second in October/November
2002 with a project promoted by the Comune di Roma and the Municipio
Roma X. The third edition was held in September 2003 and was promoted
by the Comune di Roma, Provincia di Roma and Municipio Roma X )

“Attraversamenti
Multipli 2004” in organised in three stages and in three places
that are symbolic of the journey and the multiple metropolis.

Attraversamenti Multipli leaves from Termini Station, a place of non-stop
crossings, mutli-space, the junction of the city. The first stage of
the journey is one of the main events of the 2004 edition of the Enzimi
Festival.

Having crossed Termini Station “Attraversamenti Multipli”
gets into the underground dimension of the subway.
A city of the third millennium is a place where many cities with different
languages, colours, odours and architecture pile up and become layered
in a sometimes chaotic manner.
Following and narrating this layering which is a symbol of its contemporaneity
"Attraversamenti Multipli" moves around in the veins of the
city as it follows the path of the A line of the underground.
Each
day of the first two stages is made up of a continual flow of artistic
action for five hours, created both for passers by, who may stop for
even five minutes to watch one single fragment, or for the spectator
who follows the whole five hours. This flow is composed of many fragments,
each performance has both its own autonomy and a capacity to blend into
the other parts.
Each fragment is part of a whole organism made up of performance, installaton,
video... that move on border lines between different artistic expressions
that continue to overlap and merge with other art forms. Different language
interact and tell the story of the underground and the journey through
it for different angles.
The core of this flow is "TeleRadio Metropoli" operating in
theatre/radio/television/performance for Margine Operativo and Riot
Generation Video. This live television and performing radio narrates
the thousands of stories of the underground and is the focal point of
the other performing actions.
The audio signal that transmits TeleRadioMetropoli will be emitted both
on 9th and 14th live via Roma Radio– the tube station, the radio
of the underground - in all 49 underground stations. Voices and sounds
created by the performances of Margine Operativo will be trasmitted
to accompany the flow of passengers

After
this underground journey through the city Attraversamenti Multipli
will re-emerge for one night in open air at the A Line terminal, for
a festive event that will go on from 22h. until 6.
This event, along with the many other initiatives, will contribute
to the big happening " La Notte Bianca" in Roma. During
“La Notte Bianca” trains will run non-stop, to bring people
through the city and through the night, a continual, joyful 8 hour
moving through the night with “Attraversamenti Multipli”.
Attraversamenti is a night marked by a non-stop flow of shows, recitals,
performances, reading, live set video and musicals, different artist
expressions that interact to offer a trip through the contemporary
expression.
An event that is constructed by assembling all that has happened in
the various stages though the city, to create a new artistic expression
and by having these and other expressions, shows, music, video. merge
be able to narrate the multiple metropolis.
An event that is transformed after midnight to become a party that
will go on until morning with music and live sounds from the DJ’s
and visual images from the live set of Riot Generation Video.
By merging different art forms in one single project, "Attraversamenti
Multipli" offers an ensemble of performances that experiment
incursions and expansions into other artistic territory.
The blended performance of Margine Operativo mixes video with poetry
and creates a visual organism.
The performances of Accademia degli Artefatti e Casina Benedetta,
blend theatre, poetry, visual art and create vibrant moments in the
evening journey through the city.
Antonio Taglierini and the L’Archimandrita offer intrusive performances
that tread the dividing line between actor and spectator.
Music meets theatre and poetry in the visual reading of Tony Clifton
Circus and in the poetic narration in the performance of Three Blind
Mice. The musical of Fly in Moscow Esemble si moves in urban areas,
binding them with sounds and images.
The shows become a party accompanied by the drum&bass music of
an exceptional guest, the English dj Shimon of the renowned RAM RECORDS
label, and continues until morning with the sound of Urban Pressure
that blend with the visual journey created by the flow of images from
the live video set of Riot Generation Video.
